Metals consolidate, prices get some lift.

The base metals showed signs of recovery yesterday with most of the metals closing positively, although copper gave up its earlier gains to close down 0.3 percent at $4,662, nickel closed unchanged, while lead climbed 2.6 percent zinc was up two percent, aluminium was up 0.8 percent and tin closed up 0.7 percent. Gold prices tried higher yesterday but closed off 0.3 percent at $1,219.70, while palladium closed up 2.1 percent, platinum was unchanged and silver was up 0.3 percent.
