Metals looking mixed, aluminium spreads tighten

The base metals were for the most part firmer yesterday with aluminium closing up 1.6 percent at $1,599.50, lead was up one percent and copper closed up 0.9 percent at $4,555, while nickel and zinc were off 0.8 and 0.5 percent respectively and tin was little changed at $17,065. Gold and silver prices were firmer, up an average of 0.7 percent, with gold prices at $1,283.35, while platinum was little changed and palladium was off 0.4 percent.
